Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has made it clear that his agent wants to leave Manchester United. His statement comes after last month Paul Pogba hinted at his possible exit.
Last month Paul Pogba told media that “he is looking for a new challenge.” His statement came after rumours of his possible switch had surfaced in the media.
Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is rebuilding his Manchester United squad this summer. He is reportedly keen on signing young and hungry players, as suggested by his signing of Daniel James. The ones who will put the club ahead of themselves.
Here are three players we think United can replace Paul Pogba with:
Houssem Aouar (Lyon)
He can play as a central midfielder or an attacking midfielder in the middle of the park. The Frenchman can prove to be a great replacement for Paul Pogba. Aouar just like Pogba likes to dribble and can carry the ball forward. His drive from midfield also helped him in contributing goals and assists. He likes to play short passes, with an odd long pass always around the corner and has the vision to play that killer pass.
Last season he had an average rating of 6.98 according to WhoScored.com. Aouar scored seven goals and had seven assists last season from midfield for Lyon.
According to Transfermarket.com, his value is £40m. However, Lyon isn’t willing to sell him for anything less than £50m.
Franck Kessie (AC Milan)
Kessie is a powerhouse player at the centre of the midfield. He won’t be an exact replacement for Pogba, but he could be somewhere in the middle between Herrera and Pogba.
Kessie can play as a centre midfielder or defensive midfielder. The 22-year-old will be a great addition to United’s midfield. He won’t be a direct replacement for Paul Pogba. However, he can play the role Pogba played under Mourinho. His physicality suits the Premier League. He will prove to be a solid central midfielder with the ability to keep hold of the ball and lay off passes to his creative teammates.
He made 45 appearances last season for club and country. Kessie had an average rating of 6.99. He contributed with seven goals and five assists last season.
His market value is £30m. West Ham United are reportedly interested in the midfielder. He will likely cost around £35-40m.
Lorenzo Pellegrini (Roma)
The Italian midfielder is one of the best young central midfielders in Europe. He has reportedly caught the eye of Arsenal. However, Gunners are not expected to make a bid this summer.
Pellegrini can play as a centre midfielder or as an attacking midfielder and fits the positional profile of Paul Pogba. The young Italian won’t provide the goal output of Pogba but can better him in terms of passing. He averaged more than 3 key passes per game last season. His eye for a killer pass and his ability from the set-piece will make him an instrumental part of United’s midfield. Pellegrini also likes to dribble forward from midfield and create goals.
He made 34 appearances for club and country last summer. His average rating for the 2018-19 season was 7.06. Pellegrini had four assists and scored four goals last season.
His market value is £32m. Roma needs some financial stability and is ready to sell some of their stars to balance their books. Pellegrini will likely cost around £40m to the Red Devils.
