Three transfers that won’t happen this summer

Posted by

Transfer window is in its full flow. We have already seen some big transfers this summer with Real Madrid spending big on Eden Hazard. Many of the European giants are still looking to strengthen their squad before the season start, and they are every day linked with many high-profile players.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have already made some additions to their squad. Likes of Atletico Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, PSG, Manchester United and Inter Milan are all expected to be busier in this transfer window in comparison to others. While the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool, are expected to make only one or two additions this summer.

With all these new transfer rumours every day we look into the top three rumours that are only going to end up as rumours. These three transfers are only fantasy stuff and won’t happen this summer.

Phil Coutinho to Liverpool

Former Red Phillipe Coutinho has been linked with a return to Liverpool by many media outlets in Spain and England. However, it is highly unlikely that this transfer will happen.

Why it won’t happen?

Jurgen Klopp had already made his intentions clear for this summer. Klopp had mentioned earlier, “there is no need to make big money signings this summer”. Liverpool’s approach so far in the transfer market has been similar as well. After spending around £200m last summer, Reds are looking to sign quality players that can strengthen their bench.

According to Metro, Klopp won’t spend more than £20m on a new attacker this summer. So, it looks highly unlikely that Liverpool will sign Coutinho for £100m this summer.

Kalidou Koulibaly to Manchester United

Napoli’s centre-back Koulibaly has been linked with a move away from Naples this summer. Real Madrid, Man Utd, Bayern have all been reported to be interested in the 28-year-old.

Why it won’t happen?

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United had submitted a bid of £70m for Harry Maguire two days ago which was immediately rejected by Leicester City. Koulibaly was believed to be United’s first choice but the absence of Champions League next season makes it hard for Red Devils, with clubs like Real Madrid interested in the centre-back.

Now, it looks like Solksjaer has turned his attention towards Maguire and it’s unlikely that United will pay £120m asking price for the Napoli’s centre-back.

Christian Eriksen to Real Madrid

Christian Eriksen has been linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeau in recent months. Although recent reports coming from Spain suggests otherwise.

Why it won’t happen?

According to various reports, Paul Pogba is Real Madrid’s number one midfield target and not Eriksen. Real Madrid’s President and Zinedine Zidane both prefer Pogba over Eriksen.

Zidane has even mentioned,” Eriksen lacks fire to play at Bernabeau”. These words are a clear hint that it is unlikely that Real Madrid will make a move for the midfielder despite English media reporting otherwise.

These are transfers we don’t expect happening this summer.
