Derby County has officially announced their decision to allow Frank Lampard have discussion with Blues for the vacant manager post at Stamford Bridge.
Former Chelsea man Frank Lampard joined the Rams last season on a three-year deal. Derby County is Lampard’s first club in his young management career. He led his team to play-offs in his first season in charge.
Chelsea has reportedly been highly interested in Frank Lampard since Maurizio Sarri left the club earlier this month for Juventus.
Derby County posted an official statement.
“Derby County can confirm that they granted Chelsea permission to speak to Frank Lampard about their vacant managerial position,”
“With pre-season fast approaching for both clubs, it is hoped this will allow Chelsea to swiftly conclude their discussions.
“The club will make no further comment until it is appropriate to do so.”
Frank Lampard will reportedly cost Chelsea £4m as he still has two years remaining on his contract.
The former Blue will be joined by his current backroom staff consisting of Jody Morris and Chris Jones.
