Liverpool has reportedly submitted £40m for the in-demand Portuguese midfielder. The player being reported is Sporting CP’s Bruno Fernandes.
The latest update regarding the Portuguese comes from Correio da Manha who has reported that Liverpool is the only club so far to have submitted a bid to Sporting.
However, it is highly unlikely that Liverpool’s bid of £40m will be accepted by Sporting. As they are seeking upward of £50m for their prized asset.
Manchester City, Manchester United, Atletico Madrid and Liverpool are all being linked with the midfielder. However, reports have emerged in recent weeks suggesting Atletico Madrid to be a front-runner for Fernandes.
Fernandes had a great season in Portugal. He has an average WhoScored.com rating of 7.82 in Liga NOS. Fernandes has 24 goals and 13 assists in 3466 minutes this season. He averages 3.2 key passes per game and 4.3 long passes in the league. He will reportedly cost around £55m.
Reds are looking to strengthen their Champions League winning squad this summer. Bruno Fernandes had recently spoke about his interest to play at Anfield. The midfielder had said that Liverpool’s style would suit him better than other teams in the Premier League.
