Manchester United has reportedly found the replacement for David de Gea. Man Utd has been rumoured to be contemplating selling de Gea this summer.
David de Gea had a horrible 2018-19 season, including a poor World Cup campaign for Spain. His contract expires in the summer of 2020. If Man Utd don’t sell him this summer, he might leave for free next summer.
However, United are preparing for the life without their goalkeeper. Ed Woodward is believed to be ready let the Spanish keeper leave this summer after his horrible season between the sticks.
According to Daily Record, Manchester United has identified Lille’s Mike Maignan as their replacement for de Gea. Manchester scouts are believed to be highly impressed with the Lille shot-stopper.
Maignan won the best goalkeeper in Ligue 1 award for his great 2018-19 season. He was a key part of Lille’s second place finish in Ligue 1 last season.
Manchester United has already made contact with Lille and made inquiries for the keeper. Lille is willing to consider offers around the fee of €35m only.
It will be interesting to see what Manchester United will be doing with David de Gea. Will they offer him a new contract or sell him this summer?
New signings are expected at Old Trafford this summer as Solksjaer re-build Manchester United. Maignan can also be one of the new arrivals at Manchester United this summer.
