Reds finished second in the Premier League table, just one point below champions Manchester City. After missing out on the Premier League title, Liverpool has a chance to win the Champions League trophy this Saturday.4
Many have labelled Liverpool as favourites for the Champions League title. The favourite tag comes largely due to the great 2018-19 season Liverpool had. Jurgen Klopp’s men lost just one game in the Premier League and made a stunning come back in the semi-final of the Champions League against Barcelona.
Since winning the semi-final against Barcelona, Liverpool has been tagged favourites to win the Champions League. Speaking ahead of the final to the Daily Express, Andy Robertson said,
“I’ve heard a few people say that, but for me we don’t deserve anything yet,”
“We aren’t going into it thinking we deserve it because we’ve had a good season and got 97 points. Never. That’d be stupid.”
When asked if last season’s final defeat will help Liverpool, Robertson said
“We knew what we were up against last season and we know what we’re up against this season. Both teams have got big-game experience, which can help,” he said.
“But last season I don’t think has any bearing on this. It’s a different challenge, a different team, different setup.
“Maybe we’ll know more when the game kicks off and we can look back and say it made a difference, but right now it doesn’t feel that way.”
As much as we know Jurgen Klopp, he won’t be taking anything for granted. Especially a ‘favourite tag’ in the final. His boys will be working harder than usual and will be up for the game.
