Jurgen Klopp’s this Liverpool team is quite special. Especially after their heroics against Barcelona and the season they have had in 2018-19. Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s second consecutive Champions League final, Klopp has praised his current Liverpool team.
Speaking to media ahead of the big game on 1 June in Madrid. He said,
“I love them all, they have all given everything,”
“I’ve never been part of a final with a better team, that’s true.
“I’m not so surprised because the boys have a mix of potential and attitude in the best way I have ever witnessed. That’s just brilliant, exceptional, and that brought us where we are.
“It’s a sensational situation, being here again is great. We wanted it, really desperately, but it looked like it would slip through our fingers in the group stage. I’m really happy that we can do it again.”
Milner and Henderson
Klopp had a special praise for his captain and vice-captain. James Milner and Jordan Henderson both have played key roles in Liverpool’s route to final this season.
“The best piece of character of this team is the constant readiness for development,” he explained.
“Take James Milner. He is 33 now, but he’s still developing. He’s taking really big steps, calming down here and using his unbelievable skills in better moments.
“He’s an example, like Henderson. They always want to make the next step; it’s just in them, and it helps a lot.”
Jurgen Klopp has played two UEFA Champions League and will be managing in his third final this Saturday.
His Dortmund side in 2013 and Liverpool side last year are surely not as good as his current Liverpool team.
In 2013, Dortmund were the underdogs against the mighty Bayern Munich which was full of experienced German stars like Lahm, Schweinsteiger and Neuer. Klopp had a good Dortmund squad but they were still lacking in experience.
Last year, Reds did manage to reach the final but they were not full equipped to fight for the title in all honesty. Losing Salah early in the game, exposed their lack of depth in the team.
This team around, Liverpool are favourites to win the final, that never has been the case before for Klopp’s team. They also have a solid bench, having players who can impact the game coming on late.
This is truely the best team Klopp has ever had in a final and the best equipped to win it.
