Tottenham Hotspur’s left-back Danny believes the club should do everything to keep Christian Eriksen at the club. Eriksen joined Tottenham from Ajax in 2013. He is one of the key players of Mauricio Pochettino’s side and one of the best playmakers in the world.
What’s the Story?
Christian Eriksen has a contract until the summer of 2020. He has been linked widely with the Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid as well as with Paris Saint-German and Juventus. He is one of the most sought after playmakers in Europe.
Mauricio Pochettino in his media brief after the Brighton game said Tottenham were “so open” to discuss Eriksen’s new contract. As the Dane scored the only goal in Spurs 1-0 victory over Brighton.
Rose told reporters,
“It’s obviously vital, If you look over the five years that the manager’s been here, Christian has probably played the most games. That says a lot.
“When Christian doesn’t play, there are questions that we don’t look the same. He links everything up for us.
“It’s a pleasure to play with him. He’s such a hard worker. He’s so creative and I hope he does sign. The lads in the changing room trust the people upstairs to hopefully get him to do that. We’ll just have to wait and see and hope that he does sign.
“We’ve got the foundations, but it’s not just the foundations that attract players and make players want to stay or make players want to sign. We’ve got a great base now.
“It’s out of the players’ control. We just have to trust that the people upstairs are going to do whatever they see fit to help us make that next step.
“We know that our manager is a winner. He demands the best from us and he wants to win something as well. So, while everybody is on the same page, we can just look forward to next season and see what it brings.”
There’s no denying Eriksen is as much important for Tottenham as Harry Kane. The Danish playmaker has 9 goals and 16 assists in Premier League and Champions League this season. He has been an integral part of Tottenham’s progress to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
Real Madrid has been reported as the front-runners in the race to sign him from Spurs. Zidane is believed to be eyeing Eriksen as the replacement for former Tottenham star Luka Modric.
Tottenham will next play West Ham at home to make sure they stay in the top four and qualify for Champions League next season.
