Borussia Dortmund will be hosting local rivals Schalke in their next Bundesliga game. The local derby known as the Ruhr Derby is one of the fiercest derbies in Germany.

Borussia Dortmund is in a close title race with Bayern Munich. They sit second in the Bundesliga table with 69 points, one point below Bayern. They won their last game against Freiburg by 4-0.

FC Schalke lies fifteenth in the Bundesliga points table. They are having a horrible 2018-19 season. Schalke lost their last game 2-5 at home to Hoffenheim.

Form

Borussia Dortmund – WWLWW

Dortmund has won four of their five previous games. They lost probably the most important one of the five. Defeat against Bayern gave the Bavarians a point lead over their title rivals. Although Dortmund has been in great form in recent form after some inconsistent performances in the month of February.

Schalke – WLLDL

Schalke has been going through a horrible season. They are struggling this season and their recent form depicts the same. They have won once, drew once and lost thrice in the last five games.

Injury/Suspensions

Borussia Dortmund

Achraf Hakimi and Lukasz Piszczek have been ruled out due to injury. Marius Wolf also has a minor problem but he is expected to start against Schalke.

Schalke

Alessandro Schopf, Mark Uth and Yevhen Konoplyanka are all ruled out due to injury for the trip to Signal Iduna. Nabil Bentaleb and Steven Skrzybski are both doubtful for the game.

Possible Outcome

Favre’s side needs three points no matter who are they playing against. They are definitely favourites against Schalke, considering Schalke’s recent form.
