Bundesliga table-toppers Bayern Munich will be hoping for a comeback following the disappointment of their exit from the Champions League against Liverpool on Wednesday. Niko Kovac’s side will be looking to get back on top of the Bundesliga, Dortmund having re-taken top spot on Saturday.
Opponents Mainz currently sit 13th in the Bundesliga standings and go into the match in terrible form. Having lost four of their last six games.
Bayern Munich – DWWWL
Though they were knocked dumped out of the Champions League the Bavarians are enjoying somewhat of a purple patch when it comes to their domestic season. They have only failed to win one of their last 13 matches in the league. Last week they demolished Wolfsbug 6-0 to become the leaders of the Bundesliga once again.
FSV Mainz – LLWLL
Mainz have been misfiring since the winter break. They have taken a disappointing three points from the last 15 available and have had to endure some painful results during that time.
A 5-1 home loss at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen severely dampened the mood at the Opel Arena, with the following week’s defeat at lowly Augsburg only worsening things.
Bayern Munich – Niko Kovac has two injury concerns for the match on Sunday. Corentin Tolisso is close to a return from the cruciate ligament rupture that has kept him out since September, but will probably be given more time to recover. Arjen Robben will also be missing for the clash due to a calf strain.
FSV Mainz – Goalkeeper Rene Adler and full-back Phillipp Mwene have been unavailable due to serious knee injuries since May and November, respectively. Mainz have two fresh injury worries in the form of forward Issah Abass and winger Gerrit Holtmann.

Niko Kovac will be looking for a response from his Bayern who got knocked out from Champions League on Wednesday at home to Liverpool. Dortmund with a win on Saturday is back on top of the Bundesliga table and nothing less than a win will be good enough for the Bavarians. Lewandowski will look to continue his good form along with support from Gnabry and Coman on the wings.
