What’s the story?

Zinedine Zidane is in Turin and his visit has fuelled the rumours that he might be appointed as the new manager of Juventus. Zidane is believed to be Juventus’s first choice replacement for Max Allegri. Italian media is reporting that Zidane and his team of representatives have been in Turin for the last few days and they have had talks with the representatives from Juventus.

It is being reported that Max Allegri will step down as the manager of the Juventus in the summer. He is believed to be looking for a new challenge after being the Juventus manager since 2014. Allegri has won Seria A title in every season he has been in charge of the Italian giants, Juventus. Although, the biggest challenge for Allegri has been the Champions League trophy which he didn’t manage to win.

The heart of the matter

Max Allegri will reportedly leave Juventus in the summer and he has made this decision following Juventus’s defeat to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of Round of 16 in Champions League. Despite winning Seria A in every season he has been in charge at Old Lady, he could never win the elusive Champions League.

The club hierarchy at Juventus has also shortlisted candidates to replace Allegri when he leaves the club in the summer. Zidane is believed to be on the top of that shortlist. Now, Italian media is reporting that Zidane and his representatives have been in Turin for the past few days. Moreover, it is being reported that representatives from Juventus have met with Zidane and discussed the possibility of him taking over next season. According to reports, Zidane did not meet directly with Juventus’s President Andrea Agnelli but only with the club representatives.

What’s next?

For now, besides Zidane’s link with Juventus. Real Madrid is known to want Zidane back to replace struggling Santiago Solari, while Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in his availability.
